Arad en Maya

Arad en Maya is a Dutch comic series that started in 1977 with Lo (Lodewijk) Hartog van Banda as a writer and Jan Steeman as a draftsman.

The main characters Arad and Maya live on the planet Mytica, which belongs to a different planetary system than Earth. Apparently the people who live there are related to the Earthlings because they look and behave the same but how this is possible is not explained further in the comic series. The technology on Mytica is also much more advanced than on Earth, for example, people can travel faster than light by means of teleportation and also move matter on a local scale by means of a handy ‘teleportation staff’: blippers. The world is controlled by a super intelligent and wise central computer, CC, assisted by human advisors. Maya is a biologist who communicates telepathically with animals and creatures with her hairband. She is usually the wisest of the duo. Arad is a recently graduated technician who is often stubborn, thinks he knows everything, and who often has problems with his spaceship. Together they experience all kinds of adventures on Mytica, on strange planets and the Earth.
